Team Smartfood R&D welcomes Food Engineer Nienke Köllmann

At the end of 2025, we welcomed Nienke Köllmann to Team smartfood R&D. On 1 December, she started her Traineeship as a Research Specialist. As a PhD in food technology from Wageningen University, she previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher on standardising methods for measuring the techno-functional properties of food ingredients. In recent years, Nienke has not only acquired professional knowledge, but has also mastered the art of translating research questions into concrete project plans.
"I enjoy delving into complex challenges within the food industry. This allows me to contribute to the development of high-quality and food-safe food products. I am therefore looking forward to delving further into the microbiological side of food technology and its modelling. So far, I am really enjoying the varied projects and the good atmosphere at Smartfood R&D."
With her enthusiasm and knowledge of optimising production processes and recipes, Nienke has already become a valuable addition to Team Smartfood R&D after just 1.5 months!
